Why are you doing this (NurtureMe)?
From 10 years’ experience working with couples trying to conceive, I see so many people who find it hard to source good quality products, often not knowing where to start. We want to increase awareness of the importance of improving nutrient intake to optimise one’s fertility and take some of the stress away by providing excellent supplements delivered to your door.
How do you choose your supplements?
Bearing in mind differing budgets we wanted to source a range of high quality, easily absorbed supplements, whilst trying to keep the amount of pills taken daily to a minimum. We feel that the products we have chosen are among the best available on the market.
How can taking a multivitamin improve my fertility?
We should be able to get all the nutrients we need from a well-balanced diet. However, the truth is that it is hard for us to achieve this on a daily basis whilst living busy lives. We also don’t know the nutritional value of our food, how has it been grown, how long has it been sitting in a cold room/fridge, how have the animals been fed? On top of this we are constantly bombarded by toxins in our environment, an added burden for the body to deal with. A good quality multivitamin and mineral can help ensure that vital nutrients are included in the diet, the healthier we are, the healthier our eggs (and sperm!) For more info please see our blog.
Why is my urine bright yellow after taking a multivitamin?
This is your body excreting excess riboflavin (Vitamin B2) and is completely harmless.
Why can’t I get all the nutrients I need from a healthy diet?
Why should I take a fish oil?
Modern diets tend to be higher in omega 6 and lower in omega 3 causing an imbalance in essential fatty acid ratio. This may influence egg/sperm quality and fertilisation. Omega 3 is important for nutrient and blood flow. During pregnancy omega 3 is important for healthy brain development in the foetus. During breastfeeding omega 3 may improve health and behavioural outcomes in children.
Why is nutrition important to fertilty?
Studies show that the health of both the sperm and the egg before they even meet can affect the outcome of pregnancy and the health of the baby, child and even through to adulthood. In fact it is now suggested that nutritional status can be linked with mortality risk ratio two generations later.
Can you do weekly deliveries?
Of course we can if that is required. However, the reason we have suggested every 2 weeks because we aim to keep postage and packaging costs to a minimum.
Why are monthly subscriptions more expensive than bi-weekly?
Because most of the monthly subscriptions will be in the manufacturers original packaging and as such will be in bigger packaging that costs much more to send.
Why are you re-packaging the supplements?
Our aim is two-fold: firstly to make taking supplements as easy as possible for you we have put them into daily portions (and in some cases even labeled the days), secondly, this enables us to create shipments that fit through your letterbox which reduces postage cost and ensures your subscription arrives on time, hence adding to the convenience (not having to go to the post office on a Saturday morning.) Please rest assured that all packaging has been done in a controlled environment under sterile conditions, and as we have mentioned in several places you will know exactly what each package contains down to the ingredients, and we will keep detailed records too.
